Technical Summary
PriorityStart!
is a patented heavy duty electro-mechanical device (handles up to 1000 amps) that
disconnects and reconnects the battery when required.
To do so it uses not a relay but a bi-directional motor geared to provide a
35 kg clamping force on its internal contacts resulting in a very low
resistance and high reliability.
This clamping force is superior
to a normal battery post to cable connection.
It passively monitors battery
voltage and detects a drain due to equipment being left on without the
engine running. When the battery voltage has been beneath a predefined
threshold for more than one minute then the battery is automatically
disconnected.
Patented circuitry inhibits undesired disconnection
whilst the engine is running or hazard lights flashing
The unit then automatically reconnects the battery - simply operate a light
switch, push on the brake pedal or turn the key! No buttons or switches,
just START!
PriorityStart! does not disconnect and reconnect each time
the vehicle is started, only when a load has been left on when the key is
turned off.
Its housing is moulded polypropylene, the same material as a battery case,
and weighs approximately 0.5 kg.
